A beautiful sunset at my first Fort Bottom campsite - 12 miles down stream from my departure point in Labyrinth Canyon. The wind and currents were favorable the first day so I soon arrived at my first stop and had the place all to myself. I tied my canoe to a tamarisk () and set out to explore. Tamarisk also known as salt cedar is an exotic invasive alien brought here from Eurasia or Africa. It has become a curse in southwestern streams and rivers.

A blog without words?

Spring, summer and fall are very busy so for now this blog is more a portal to my "photo-blogs" than a conventional word blog. Plus lately I seem to be thinking more in images rather than in words - more interested in doing and seeing and photographing than in writing and researching or siting inside in front of this computer.

So for now I'll mainly be posting photographs with links to albums on my photography site: http://picasaweb.google.com/rrgaines . You'll find the "words" there - as comments with the pictures. Just follow the links if you want to see or read more.
